My brother bought an Energizer E127209 battery charger with some
nimh batteries at Sam's club. (It is not what I would have bought.
I would have bought a Maha or a La Cross.)

Is this an adequate charger? It only charges cells in pairs. Does
it determine end of charge by measuring temperature or the voltage
"knee" that nimh cells have or does it go strictly by time?

The last time I needed to charge the four cells my camera uses, two
of them had a pre-charge voltage of around 1.247 volts and the other
two were around 0.98 volts. After they were charged they were
around 1.422 for the better two and 1.398 for the others.

Would a better charger such as the La Cross get these cells more
evenly charged? Thank you in advance for all replies.

I am TERRIBLY cruel to my cat. I actually cut of the ends of
his toes. It's just the hard, dead part that grows back but
still. And I do it just because he sticks them in me or
scratches the furniture or me.

Any charger that requires you to charge in pairs is an inadequate charger.
Return it.

You will not get good equalization with the above charger.
