I am using a Mac. From what I can find, PSE 6 like PSE 5 is Microslop
only. Correct?

Has Adobe been brought to believe that iPhoto and iDVD are so good that
they will not compete, and that they have reached the end of
improvements to photo editing in PSE and we will have to use Big Daddy
PS if we want any advances on that side?

the mac version of ps elements 6 is due out in early 2008:

no, they just decided to skip a version on the mac side. it's still
available:
