Archived from groups: rec>photo>digital (more info?)

I have emailed Kodak with this problem but all I've gotten back so far
is the online help instructions copied into an email, which I read
before I even emailed them and do not address my problem. Ron from
Kodak on this board seems knowledgeable and responsive, so here goes...

The captions that I write for my pictures within Kodak EasyShare albums
are disappearing randomly and without warning. Sometimes they are
fine, and other times they disappear (usually all except for one or
two) when I change picture views (e.g. from Single to Thumbnail to
Details) or when I copy photos into another album. According to the
documentation (and common sense), captions should be saved
automatically and not deleted unless you specifically delete them.
Therefore there appears to be some sort of software glitch. I was
using 4.x and i just downloaded the latest version (5.1.0), but the
problem persists. Although I would like to resolve the problem and
continue to use EasyShare, I obviously cannot if I can't trust it to
save my captions.

Greetings Helen,

Sorry I have been away from the forum for a bit.

It is hard to say why the program is not retaining your captions, it
should. Since this is happening to you, I suspect it is the process you
are using? What is it that you are doing exactly? If you open EasyShare
and select the Entire Collection, You should see all the pictures you
have related to EasyShare.

Change the title of some images by clicking just below the image and
write the title you want to use. When finished move on to the next.
When you are finished, the albums that these images are in should
display them with new titles you have added as well as show the titles
in the Entire collection.

I wonder, Helen, if you may be changing the size of the display. If
you take the images down to their smallest size the captions will
disappear as there is no longer enough room for the text. This may be
the issue. Move the slider to the smallest view (all the way to the
left) on the slider bar at the bottom of the screen in the album or in
the Entire Collection view, you will see that the captions disappear.
As you move the slider to the right even a little the captions will
reappear. This does not happen with the Album view (showing just the
albums).

Let me know if this helps, Helen. Talk to you soon.

I decided it's probably some weird bug/interaction with my computer,
because otherwise it's completely unexplainable. It doesn't happen on
my husband's computer, and I've had trouble with other digital camera
software in the past. I've started using Picassa, and it seems to be
working well. But, no hard feelings.
