I know this is generally just a basic digital camera, but it has served
the family well over the past couple of years. Lately though, when the
camera is set to AUTO, after taking one or two images, the LCD screen
begins to go dark, and all images taken turn out the same way. It's as
if the aperature is closing down during AUTO mode. Sometimes you are
able to get one or two pics in before this happens, but it does stop
picture taking in its tracks. If you review a previously taken photo,
you can see them in the LCD screen, so it's not the screen that's the
problem. If you put the camera away and take it out sometime later, the
same thing happens - one or two pics and then darkness... My guess
would be that something (a chip, etc.) in the auto circuitry is
overheating, but that's just the sense that I get. It also happens when
taking a video.
This morning I thought, maybe I should try the other camera settings
(i.e. sport, night, landscape & closeup) and surprisingly I found that
it seemed to work normally. I took about a dozen photos in my office
with no issue.
So, initially, I was thinking the camera was just plain worn out, but
now it seems that the problem is only in the AUTO mode. Of course, I
haven't had the time (since I discovered this workaround) to take a
good look at the photos it just took, but the ten or so that I just
took in the office all seemed to turn out normal.
Anyone else have this problem or does anyone know what's going on??
Thanks for your help,

Hello, Joe:
"DarnToothySam" not only sells/auctions secondhand digital cameras
(and their individual parts), he also fixes them, and his prices
seem quite reasonable. Here are his Web sites:
DarnToothySam.com
http://www.darntoothysam.com
DarnToothySam - eBay Store

Good luck!
