Once, I had several pinpoint black spots appearing on all the photos taken
with a SLR camera.
The spots could be viewed on a monitor or in a print. Cleaning the lens did
not erase the spots. So, to clean the sensor, I followed the steps below.
(1) Tried another lens to see if the dirt was on the lens or sensor. The
spots were on the sensor, not the lens.
(2) Removed the lens, and turned the camera body upside down so the camera
opening was facing down.
(3) Used a camera blow brush to remove the dirt from the sensor.
This process worked like a charm. I'm tempted to do this process on all my
digital SLR cameras, but have not done so. Will wait until the sensors are
dirty, since I am now more careful when changing lens. I learned this
cleaning process from a camera shop employee.
Are there other ways to clean a sensor?
