Can still take still photos and video (without preview) - any ideas on
how to fix the LCD display? Probably not worth getting it serviced?

Hi.

Find a local Camera Repairer (not Kodak) and ask for an estimate. It would
be worthwhile finding the definitive answer, even if the Estimate does cost
a few bucks or quid.

However a Dropped Camera is always the perfect excuse for an upgrade.

Hello, Adrian:

I own a DX4530, with precisely the same issue. (It was an eBay
purchase; the seller explicitly stated the defect in question.)

In a later repair attempt, I bought a used LCD panel ($39.95 +
shipping), from an online entity, calling himself "DarnToothySam."

Sadly, the problem remained, even after the "new" component was
installed. I was able to send it back, for a full refund (minus
return shipping costs, of course).

DarnToothySam not only sells/auctions secondhand digital cameras
(and their individual parts), he also fixes them, and his prices
seem quite reasonable. Here are his Web sites:

DarnToothySam.com

DarnToothySam - eBay Store

Good luck!
