Post subject: Digital Compact for Holiday

My last digital camera was Powershot G3 that i've had a for a good few
years, whist its a good camera still in terms of picture quality it's
just too big for everyday snaps. I'm going to Rhodes at the end of
next week am looking to spend between £150-200. There seem to be so
many (ultra) compacts from the likes of canon and casio at this price
its difficult to separate the wheat from the chaff.
Any suggestions of a good quality camera in this price range would be
helpful, i'd go a little over my budget if it'd be really worth it.

I've got a Panasonic FX01 that's been real nice. Small, light, very nice
picture quality, wide angle zoom, image stabilization, and a nice LCD
screen.

Avoid the real "ultra-compacts!" They are too small for even
women's fingers to grip well - and their controls are too small for
even women to use, too.

I used the Canon A620. Not shirt-pocket size, but small enough.
Big enough to hold onto. Uses 4 AA batteries. 35-140mm zoom
(equivalent). 7 megapixels--enough for nice 13.5 by 18 inch prints. >> Stay informed about: Digital Compact for Holiday |

I'll second the A620 - a great value in a very competent and friendly
P&S that's capable of manual operation as well.
