Everytime I try and retrieve my pics/video from my camera the pc crashes.I
am using the software I got with the camera(picture package ver 1.6 &
imagemixer VCD2.I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling.It doesn't matter if
I am retrieving from Sony 1 gb memory stick or internal memory(I thought the
memory stick was faulty). It also crashed when trying to retrieve with
photosuite.I have only had the camera for about 2 month,it was ok at first
abit slow due to USB 1 ,then started crashing after about 6 weeks of use.I
have just installed a usb 2 pci card & forgot about the crashing problem.I
have been on the pc for about 6 hours now and am ready for chucking the
f****** thing out of the window!I am sure you have been there!!
Anyone got any ideas.
Cheers Keith
PS I really wanted to use it at xmas but know looks doubtful.

That's a common theme when Sony software is installed, even when
it's audio software. Because of its DRM (a form of copy protection)
owners of some of Sony's audio products have to use their
proprietary software. You don't. Have you tried using a card
reader? They should be more trouble free, and decent readers aren't
expensive.

Don't give up yet. If Santa can't make an early visit, get
yourself a card reader (make sure it's known to be compatible with
1GB cards, some aren't) and you should be able to transfer your
pictures. Even the ones on internal memory, but you'll have to have
the camera copy them to the memory stick first.

Did you attempt to transfer with just the usb cable and windows
explorer?

I have no trouble with usb 1 and the Pro memory stick.

I had luck with a sony memory stick on an older sony computer, then 2
new memory stick pros would not load , I gave up and used the usb
transfer, Sony tech support after keeping me waiting 15 minutes for a
human spoke in poor english and hung up on me when I asked them to,
repeat please. So if its a Pro stick I think older computers don`t
recognise it, since I took the card to best buy and tried it on floor
models computers. I gave up since usb works.

Forget about Sony Software. If you are using Win Xp, get a USB 2 Card
Reader (about $15) that accepts Memory sticks. That should solve all your
problems.

Hi All,the camera & software are ok with my USB 1 but crashes on my new usb
2 connection.Found this out this morning!Carried out thorough scan disk over
night. So is the pci card faulty or remove &reinstall or forget about it and
get card reader-mind you they are usb 2.I upgraded to usb 2 mainly because I
am hoping Santa is bringing me a Ipod.
Cheers Keith
