I am having trouble taking action pictures with the Panasonic DMC-FZ30.
Both of my daughters are competitive swimmers and all of the action
shots (diving, swim strokes, etc) are blurry. I have tried all of the
various setting like "sports" with no luck.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The problem is based, more than likely, on a shutter speed that is too
long. Use "S" mode, and adjust the shutterspeed so that it is high
enough to prevent motion blur. You should also check that your OIS is
turned on.

HTH.

I agree with Mike on the first point, but disagree partially on the second
point: If you follow the movement with the camera, the OIS will try to
compensate the camera movement and cause blurry pictures, not prevent them.
I made that experience however with faster movement sports then swimming,
best is to try out. If you use OIS, try to hold the camera still for the
actual shot and use mode 2.
