Hello all,
I am using two off camera Nikon SB-600 on tripods... of course using
the Nikon D70 in Commander mode and both fire successfully.
My question though, is how to set the camera or the SB-600's or both,
to fire the SB-600's at their maximum flash output no matter how the
aperture, shutter speed, etc. is set on the camera. Does that make
sense? I know the brain in the camera and in the flash is smarter than
I am... I recognize that, and know that in concert the camera and the
SB-600's are trying to make the lighting perfect given whatever
settings. Normally I am gracious and accepting of that, but have a
specific scenario wherein I need the flashes to flash at full strength
no matter where I set the exposure on the D70.

What a novel concept - actually reading the manual before posting!

It's not really that easy. Before you read the manual you have to be
able to find it, and who knows where the manual is once you've had the
product for a while. An electronic flash should not be that complex a
product and you shouldn't need a manual to figure out how to use it
once you understand in basic terms what the thing does.
The problem is that these flashes have terribly confusing user
interfaces. There is a little cheat sheet printed on the back of the
pull-out bounce card on the SB800 but it doesn't have nearly enough
info. They need to redesign these things considerably and/or include
built-in help like a computer. >> Stay informed about: D70 remote firing two SB600's |

People who read manuals are few and far between *sigh* people who have
problems are rather common. Guess I am just one of the lucky few.

Set the commander mode to manual. The flash is still activated
wirelessly, I use this with the R1C1 where the incamera settings won't
compensate for a 1:1 macro.

Given that 99.9% of the questions asked here could be answered in the
manuals, this is not a particularly helpful reply. If you are too busy to
answer the question, you are too busy to make snide remarks.

| Related Topics: | Nikon D70 use with Remote Speedlights without Commander - Is it possible to trigger the Nikon wireless remote speedlight flashes (SB-R200) from the Nikon D70 camera without using the Speedlight Commander (SU-800)? Thanks! Dave
How does the Nikon ML-L3 wireless remote work? - I'm curious about how the Nikon ML-L3 works. If there were two cameras, side-by-side, would the remote trigger them both? If not, how does a camera know if the remote is controlling it or the other camera? Does anyone have any experience with this? .. |
