I have repaired D560s and other Olympus's with this problem. The
easiest was one that had jam on the SmartMedia card that was transfered
to the reader fingers. The other thing that can cause this "Card Error"
is if you erase the card in your computer. In your case, however, it
sounds like a problem with the card reader module. (since the card
won't self eject) This works like the mechanism in a retractable ball
point pen. It would require disassembly of the camera and
cleaning/repair of the reader module. I have 2 of these in my repair
stock BTW.
