Broadly, I agree, but I still think there's casual post-processing and
/serious/ post-processing. Probably just me, but I've never been in the
situation of feeling that I must take RAW. I'm not a professional,
though.

I'm trying to think when the wife or I last looked at our wedding
pictures - probably at least fifteen years ago, if not twenty-five! To be
honest, we do have pictures that are lasting a lifetime, but they are all
ones we took ourselves, and as it's the people and not the exposure which
matters, JPEG would be just fine.

The only paid-for material we needed recently was a copy of a photo from
about thirty years back, professionally taken. The response: oh, sorry,
but we threw out those negatives (this from a firm which has a 50 year or
more history). Again, the image quality would not have mattered between
JPEG and RAW - the ability to keep an archive was far more important!

Cheers,
David

That's because whenever you bring something like that up somebody asks
you the name of the business and where it is located.
It turns out that your businesses are all very private, unlisted,
unadvertised, and invisible. They exist only in your mind.
Who runs them? Julian or Graham Hunt?

Yes Doug... The page does have links in it. So does any "free" hosting site
like Flickr or smugmug. Is there a difference?

I use a generic "template" when I post examples for clients to see. I don't
usually link to that site but seeing as someone questioned my ability to
take pics like that and it was already in place for a client, I posted the
link.

Thanks for your input, I'll consider your comment next time and maybe
refrain from providing any links to any of my photos if they cause that much
distress. (joking).

I too produce coffee table books. Some are very limited edition, some are in
commercial quantities. I also own a commercial wide format and digital
printing business which relies on photographers as clients. You may notice
that I never promote them in newsgroups.

And as far as the Antarctic thing goes... Who would bother trying to sell a
truck load of sand to a Bedouin? Selling photographs to photographers is in
the same league ! Thanks for you post, it's always refereshing to hear
someone else's perspective on an issue.

Gee, wonder why he chose that one?? Smile

The correct answer is: Stored in bottle in freezer, with correct ratio
of Vermouth. Two garlic stuffed olives in cold stem glass.

Fords Forever. It's vs Holden in Aus but whatever... GM couldn't match the
Henrys in our V8 supercar challenge this year. They couldn't match the
Henrys at Mt Panorama either. Ford's really do rule down under! We did after
all make the fastest 4 door production car in the world and it was... A
FORD!

And...
Shaken, always shaken, I love bruised ice!

Very clearly the dude with an attitude who long ago tried to use a female
golfer's name to hide his own identity and couldn't even succeed at that,
hasn't discovered much about me in his quest for ammunition to steal, defame
and slander me. Obviously I did a better job of it - using my own name, than
he did with his pathetic attempt at deception!

The only people who try (unsuccessfully) to discover my business information
are total idiots. Each and every one of my businesses is in the phone book.
Anyone with legitimate business to do with me, can find the appropriate
business with a few mouse clicks... And the trolls, can't even figure that
out.

Mark Thomas (AKA Charles Stevens) who said my enlargement algorithm was all
lies. That I couldn't enlarge digital images and then as he discovered his
own "cut and paste" knowledge conceded that "well...sure Doug can enlarge
digital images, so what? So can anyone else"... Three years after I
pioneered the process in Queensland.

And the he got into me about my Commercial permits for taking photo tours
into restricted areas, recreational areas and National Parks. Nice load of
uninformed bullshit he came out with there: "Bullshit, LIAR, the EPA has
nothing to do with permits for photography. Read who the here letter is from
which came with my permits and decide on his knowledge and purpose. He
claims much and substantiates little.

And then there's the little Yankee wannabe from Chattanooga... Annika1980.
What an excellent example of why mass contraception in that town was
suggested in the 1800's. This creep seems to have escaped any birth control.
As I vacated my Cleveland office, I posted a picture of it in reply to just
such a taunt as the one Pete replied to.

Charlie Stevens said: "There you go, no shopfront, no business, he's all
lies". http://www.douglasjames.com.au/evidence/shopfront.htm

Since I moved, that shop has been broken into three times, had the door "ram
raided" and a polite letter left for the charity now occupying it: "Sorry, I
thought techno aussie was still here" after some mongrel cretin smashed
their way in through the roof.

Read Annika1980's his history for yourselves, all truth, all backed up with
his own admissions and evidence from the sites he tried to get my password
from: http://www.annika1980.com. What did I do to him? Told him he needed to
get his act together after he posted out of focus birds and his idea of
"wedding photography" which had children seemingly growing out of the sleeve
of the bride's father, heads chopped off and some pretty unflattering photos
shot with ultra wide lens.

Wide angle portraits took on a whole new meaning when he shot two fatties at
close range!!! And then he attacked me by trying to break into my e-bay
sellers account. He set up photos sites he forged my name to create... It's
all there on http://www.annika1980.com

Very obvious that these two idiots have contributed substantially to the
degradation of the "photo" groups of Usenet. If you ever need to ask why I
moved my investment company off shore and gave over control of my Australian
photographic interests to my children and don't post their locations on
Usenet, you only need to look at the repair bill for the damage to my boat
when someone strung a wire hawser under the props.

What it is that makes a couple of insecure wannabe photographers so
criminally minded is something for the head shrinks but sooner or later
they'll both have to account for their disgusting behaviour.

Criticize Annika1980's God awful composure of plastic wildlife and he'll
hound you with his barbs and lies until you either go away of stand and
fight (as I - and Rita - have) and watch him destroy a newsgroup or two as
he resorts to *ANY* level of criminality trying to damage other people who
do what he just dreams about doing.

And just like the post you objected to, I appreciated the pictures. QED.
Just curious, the picture at the altar - was the church that
"yellowish?"
My first impression was that shot needed some color adjustments.

Nah, I like your House persona even if you nearly kill the patient three
or four times before you save his/her life. Wink
