Post subject: Anyone using the Canon ED SDK for Eos cameras?
Archived from groups: rec>photo>digital (more info?)

Hi, I have a small program using the Canon EDSDK, that can remotely
take pictures, I just got a 450D camera that is live preview capable
and I have been trying to get that to work in the software.

However I cannot decode the format that the live preview is in. Other
versions of the SDK for example for PowerShots just deliver a jpeg
stream back. The Eos seems to deliver something else back. It seems to
start with a 0xec7e magic number, and contains some sort of 40 column
header.

The sdk docs don't say anything about it, they just give info on how
to get the image reference, and then the sample just has a comment
saying "display image".

It must be possible somehow as the Breeze software DSLR Remote Pro can
access the live image.

Thanks a lot

Oolis.
