There has been little here on the D-50 either from the construction
quality stand point or picture quality and prints.

Anyone have some personal experience to share, please?

There are two ways to spell Ockham/Occam. Britannica prefers the former.

Nice little dSLR !!!
It has all functions that you will need at this point.
iso 1600 is pretty good indeed!
I take my shots in RAW, but you will see amazing jpeg's straight from
the camera.

Enjoy with it!

Exactly. The 6MP Nikon dSLRs have very similar noise performance to the 6MP
and 8MP Canons. In terms of "feel", the D50 has a chunkier feel than the
Canon 350D; the 350D is designed for people with small hands, and if you
have large hands, you'll prefer the D50. (The original Canon Drebel (300D)
was closer to the size of the D50.)

(I don't own a D50, but I've handled them at the stores.)

My wife and I love ours. It is our first DSLR. The manual is even
readable, though we also bought the Magic Lantern D50 book. I do a lot
of macro work, and it is the only digital I can use for that, our P&S
is useless for such work. We are using it with the Tamron 28-300 zoom
in addition to the lens that came with it.

And, remember: There's no correlation between the size of one's hands
and his or her privates. Use what feels right, and natural in all
aspects....
