Hello and Merry Xmas

I have tried to use 2nd curtain sync on my 30D, but without luck. I use a
580 EX flash and have tried in P, Av, Tv and M mode with the Cf-15 set to
1: 2nd-curtain sync.

But the flash fire on the first curtain. Have I missed something or?

Safe to use Canon Speedlite 166A on Canon S5is? - I have a Speedlite 166A that I used a few times on my Canon S5is, until someone told me I could damage the camera with it. I quit using it, but is it really unsafe to use on this camera? The recommended flashes are 220EX, 430EX, 580EX. Thanks Steve
